Thanks for all the positive comments. I'm pretty chuffed with how she's turned out.
The decks are Robbins Tiger Sapele, with a couple of coats of  Eposeal plus 6 or so coats of International Schooner varnish. Mind you, I've already put a 50p sized hole in the side deck! I'd tied her down (ish) and went away on holiday, when I came back she'd blown off the trolley onto the corner of my RS300. Shows how light it is. In 40 years of sailing I've never had a boat blow over, and now this happens - oh well, it's been christened now.

Had a great breezy sail last night and beginning to get more of a feel for sailing her. Need to do a few tweaks :
-Will need some work on the rudder stock/gantry, although it is raised above the waterline the stock sits right in the sternwave, so I need some major mods here.
- More progrip reqd, was sliding all over the place Dead
- Still need to decide what to do with the control line tails and finish them off
- Need to fit a track for the clew slider on the boom

I need to adjust from sailing the RS300, to being at the back of the handicap fleet rather than the front. In the last two sails i've been caught by the top of the laser fleet starting 3mins behind. This is only a 12' boat so is not quick, but am still wrestling with technique
Great to be out in the breeze last night though. It goes upwind very well, probably felt best when footing off for speed slightly. Bear aways are very interesting Confused especially with the lack of grip, you are trying to get in off the wire, but the windward heel and acceleration through you out.
My tacking from the wire still need lots of work.
Lots to learn.

Waterline length is an amazingly powerful thing.

Has a provisional PY number been worked out yet?

Naaa... too heavy.

The 3.7 isn't fast in PY terms... it's all about the feel and responsiveness... although it can be pretty quick on the right legs.

Class seems to have gone quiet - 3 supposedly in the UK. Has anyone seen one on the water?

Lovely looking boat and great blog of the progress.

I'll admit up front to being too lazy to trawl the web for this info so... how open is the rig in terms of development possibilities?

I'm assuming there is some kind of max height, max measured area type of ruling in place, because all the pics I see appear to have similar height masts and sized sails....

cheers & happy sailing

Really, as opposed to the MPS, 700 and 3.7 already "in existence" in one shape or another?
...needs a new thread, so as not to divert this one

Dave,
Congratulations, i have to admit i have followd your blog and the  build process.  I am very jealous, the enjoyment you must get from sailing a boat you have built so beautifully yourself must be great!  I am struggling to even get motivated enough to revarnish and paint my daughters Graduate!!!  But having seen your finished boat its given me the kick up the arse i needed to get out there with the sander again.  Well Done!

Saw Dave's boat in the flesh - lovely. Might even have a bit of video for him if he wants to share it on his page ;-)
