Did you see the Jimmy Spithill video this week of him falling off the AC72, pretty bad diving skills!

Haha, I feel sorry for the guy, slightly embarrassing for him. Just goes to show that even the best sailors fall off the bus occasionally!

I think its great that they are having a laugh about it, shows the less serious side to the AC, which I think is good, as most of those sailors take themselves far to seriously.

Just seen this on Facebook as well, so you can tell he loves the piss taking - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=435111123254201&set=a.162725600492756.33592.162676127164370&type=1&theater

+1 there's almost no conditions short of 'guaranteed lifeboat' that you wouldn't want to have a blast in a laser every now and then ... Long after the 'pride and joy' will have its covers and tie-down in place

Contenders are just looking better and better these days- especially now they've outlasted the RS600, a temporary blip... the Contender & Farr 3.7 seem to be the boats to sail if you want a trap singlehander without a kite.

hmmmm, in 20+ knots of breeze and waves they look fun, but in normal sailing conditions, i'm not convinced.

I convinced by the market- Contender has a strong international following, and a good UK circuit.  Although I agree it would appeal to me more at a sea location rather inland.

RS600 is currently debating whether it can continue to even run a circuit.... and from what I can tell, has very little international presence.

I'd have thought that the real rivals to the Contender are the other boats with international presence, whether they have a kite or a crew or a trap or not - so the Musto Skiff would be one, the 505 another and even the D1 would appeal to the same market. The 600 might have done when it came out first, but now it is a play boat, really, not a huge fleet international circuit racer.

Doesn't make the 600 any less fun to sail, though.
