Umm.. well they've said on their blog that the test sailor reported that he stayed out of the water stream as it flowed through the middle of the boat. Still it would be interesting to see if that opinion stays the same when sailing in Solent Chop?!

You're sounding less convinced jack- change of opinion, or just reserving judgement?

Looked to me like the rig was letting off a lot of energy as the bow went in.  What you need but you also need to be good to handle that.

Anyone else think it looked slow though?  I would have expected more speed in that wind - compare with say the 300.

I just watched the video again, remarkable mast bend too.  GRF won't be the only one wanting a snorkel, looks like exactly the kind of craft I wouldn't want my lovely boat anywhere near to thanks, could go anywhere and while I'm not convinced of the 'wave piercing' aspect of the bow design, I'm thinking it will do a nice job of epoxy foam sandwich....

Still reserving judgment. It's a new way of doing things and its not going to look the same sailing as conventional dinghies. My concern, if I have a one, is what happens to the unsupported mast when the bow goes wave piercing with the kite up. It doesn't bother me too much that the boat is likely to be a wet ride, if all that water doesn't slow it down. Which it doesn't look like it is from the footage. But that may be different when piercing real waves / steep chop. But having said that it looks like it would be a bloody fast inland boat for sure.

I suspect that as long as it is made well, more towards the small diameter/thick wall and if 2 part the join is good, that the mast will be fine with kite up and bow burying.

Does it go upwind, can it tack or gybe...that's what I'd like to see - I mean does it fall over every time it turns a corner?

No idea but it certainly wouldn't fill me with confidence about the boat's ability to stay on the surface for the entire race. I do hope that a part of the purchase price will include a huge donation to the RNLI.
Best wishes from deep in the woods

I thought the other interesting aspect of that video is that there was no real evidence of wave piercing.  Planing like that it just went over,
