I don't think there are any 10.2 sailors there... (I can only speak of the GB ones)
Huw would be the only one but has changed down as per report.

I suspect people who perhaps would have chosen a 7.4 or 10.2 will go with the 8.4 as that is where the critical mass is ...

It is only what happened with the RS300 where one rig became dominant. I don't think there are enough sailors wanting to sail 100s for there to be separate classes for 7.4, 8.4 and 10.2 rigs. It will not achieve what the Laser has done with its 3 rigs.

so is the pondmonkey dead or just resting, James?

Or is the regular ID change so you can tell Mrs B that you don't spend that much time on here, 'look I've only made a couple of posts...'

nope, just chipping in for a new model with less miles on the clock.... it must be a windsurfing influence.

Anyway, this thread is currently for the RS100 owners to bury their head in the sand about the demise of the 10.2 fleet, not to discuss internet handles.

Well the fleet drifting towards one rig as a preference may not be a bad thing. It will certainly be less confusing for people looking to join the class. I guess the majority of new RS100 sailors will come from the Laser fleet and their average weight would suit the 8.4 rig better.

The members of my club who have expressed an interest in the 100 are all Laser sailors.

I wouldn't argue with that logic... and yes, it does seem to suit (ex)Laser sailors looking for something a little extra.

That much was evident from the first events when the hikefest was unveiled.

It also attracts sailors of two person asymmetrics whose crews have moved on.

Anyone else read the Europeans final report? Now that really confuses me about the two rigs! How can someone be joint European champion in both rigs?? :s
