Remind me to drop the lead out of the Solo before we meet at the FOM- it's not cheating is it?

The rigs have definitely not to date been a formal weight equalisation system. This is a total misconception.

They might be a weight compensation system of sorts, I'll grant you

Yes it is. But my using my 10.2 in a club race James is n't. Until that unfortunately worded rule change is ratified by ISAF, it won't be, and even if ratified as is, only if a 100 with an 8.4 turned up on the start-line. I'm pretty confident that before it does go to ISAF it will be reworded so that, as a minimum, it only applies to official RS Circuit events. And I would n't be surprised if the weight reference came out completely, given the almost monopoly of 10.2s in Europe.

Yes, the wording is a bit clumsy and needs sorting out, but don't start crowing about the rest, it's getting boring. Just re-read the comments made above by Nick Peters or Martin Wadhams and let's move on to something interesting.

And BTW, I'd have been far better off yesterday with the 8.4 up!

I think I'll get some tape drive sails knocked up for my Merlin too ...

Knowingly breaking the rules is cheating at worst and disrespectful to other competitors at best.

Well they will be unless the proposal gets binned and a new one written ...

Can I use an Rooster8.1 on my Laser and still expect the Laser PY?

sad turn to this thread, made sadder by the pointless nit-picking posts .... it used to be about a rather nice boat and it's <rather nice?> owners, apparently, with occasional tangents on the lines of what they were like to sail and things like that...

I think tape drive is legal on Merlins now so your cunning plan may not work Wink
Best wishes from deep in the woods

Well you could if your local PY was adjusted on the basis of allowing any rig.

It's between you and the local PY scheme.
It might mean all lasers would have the PY of the 8.1.

Much like RS600's are allowed to reef but use the same PY.
Locally in PY racing, the change in RS100 rigs is small beer compared to whether the course favours them or not.
In fleet racing small changes make a bigger difference as a lot of variables have been removed.
