no- a realist, who values my time off and a quality race programme.

And at the same price as a crappy gym in a hotel, £50 a month would seem like an absolute bargain for a professionally managed sailing club with no duties to do and facilities I would like to actually use in a coastal location.

Would I pay that for a duck pond... probably, it's still cheaper than travelling to events, but I would begrudge it a little more.  LOL

I can see your point about a professionally run club, PM, but for me, part of sailing is the whole "helping running things" business, whether it be a sailing club or a dinghy class.

Mind, I am just dreaming of this club of yours... does the £600 include parking for 6 boats as well as no duties and a bar with seats with cushions? If so, I'm in!

Update from the House Steering Committee - May 2020

As many of you know, sadly the cushions in the member's lounge were stolen and sewn into the butt patch of a Douglas Gill spray suit in early 1989.

The GP14 sailor responsible has now died, however we (and the General Committee and Vice Commodore) are working on chasing his estate for losses incurred due to this unfortunate misunderstanding.  For the record, rumours that Brandy and Babysham involving those guys who sail the former olympic Finn dinghy are wildly inaccurate.

In the interim, the Spring Fundraising Gala Committee have issued us an inter-committee loan to procure some new cushions for the club house.  The General Committee are yet to reach consensus on which colour to replace them with despite pleas from the House Steering Committee to go for vela grey with pink piping.

A member's survey is due to be sent by carrier pigeon next week gauging member opinions on colour schemes that will go largely unconsidered by us and the GC, however we have run out of Queen Camilla memorabilia stamps so this may take a while.

... Same sh*t, just more expensive

Might I suggest cushions in Gulf Racing colours to the GC, always popular and don't show the Brandy and Babycham, no doubt the drinking hand will be shaking by that time, if it isn't already?

Definitely Brightlingsea then - not only great sailing but excellent real beer and food afterwards.

Anyone got any data on wind direction/strength over the last 10 years? Whats the trend? Has your "prevailing wind" altered?

No sailing this w/e, blown out and I'm bored.

Blown out here as well, although it is back to the more normal SW direction, I should have gone down the lake, they raced, quite a lot retired but they did at least get out.

The sea currently smells like it should in early May, it's something to so with plankton or sea weed never did find out, but 'Maywater' always stinks to high heaven, however it is now June, the nights are now drawing in yet the water has yet to warm to somewhere near seasonal comfort.
