Rupert, its no problems at all.  in fact i think you are the easiest person of all to cater for.  You just need to drive 2.5 miles from White Friars to South Cerney SC.  Which is where the Demo boat is currently stored.  Give me a bit of notice as i will rarely be there and i think the demo boat may sell over the next few days, but we have a new one available or one of the other 2 will let you have another go.

I'd not put 2 and 2 together there! I shall find some free dates and see if we can match one up.

Is one coming across to Whitefriars for Federation day on Saturday?

Not trying to be difficult but the D1 has nearly as much sail as the Musto, and is about the same width isn't it.  Anything about 12 knots and i wish i had a little more leverage in my Musto!

Thats not what you said Neptune you quite clearly named the D1 not the Astom

Ok if you want to go that way, they are all slow, some slightly less so that others, but really your all banging your head against the wall....efficient rig or not, imo anyway

I drive a diesel people carrier, and even in 2nd gear it is faster than a Musto Skiff, so really, that makes all dinghies slow - the point is the enjoyment, the racing, the fun. People get that in different ways from different things - for some dangling from a wire does it, for others sitting out. Each to their own. It makes more sense to compare boats which have the same parameters than to start throwing irrlevant insults around about how crap all boats without a wire are.

I was just trying to dose the mines faster than your's with a sense of reality, but your people carrier analogy is probably even better

of course we could just take the view that if speed and ultimate performance is what we're after, then why hasn't no one mentioned the Int Moth?  It's by far and away much quicker than any asymmetric singlehanded- with or without trapezes and planks; it's also pretty efficient without a wallowing great rig and you can pack it up in a box and go on holiday with it.

Of course a windsurfer is infinitely even more portable than the Moth, and speeds of 25 knots plus with carving, planing gybes off the fin are quite do-able without the need for arachnid hybrid genetics a la Peter Parker like the mothies...

Then you get to thinking, you know what... windsurf boards, well they're a bit cumbersome and inefficient too by this century's technology.  Might as well go kite surfing.  Far more convenient to travel with and pretty damn quick too... in fact it could be an Olympic sport, y'know kiteboarding.

sometimes you just have to accept that fashion varies place to place... no point turning up all West London BoHo around our way, there's no one to play with and the rest of the local puddles are too small for such a vibrant coat like yours...

No it's not the way I want to go. It's you that have made assumptions based on misreading posts. I never said the D1 was fast. Your opinion is devoid of fact so not valid. Perhaps you should know when to stop digging when you are in a hole! I have sailed much faster boats than the Musto. Doesn't mean I start posting how bad the concept is! You have posted else where that you won't be coming to the FOM regatta as its too small for your Musto. The d1 still got around and prob faster than you could in the Musto! It's absolutely horses for courses. The concept of single handed hiking assy is a sound one just look how quickly the 100 and d1 fleets have grown in recent years. That is solely because it suits people's needs better than trapeze boats they don't buy the to be the fastst boat on the water. Because they are not.

Shall we leave it there now or are you going to shoot off on another angle to try and make yourself look clever??
