I agree with Russ, it's time for the series organisers to sort this mess out.  It's not a job for the individual.
the same, but different...

It is tricky... We managed to hold a protest hearing over the lunch break at a one day event at my club today, but the competitors had to eat their lunch while saying their pieces, the PC didn't get their lunch until the kitchen had run out of nearly everything, and even though the evidence was fairly straightforward we were still struggling to give a fair hearing without delaying the next start. Even then the competitors didn't get to hear the decision until they came ashore after the last race. Fortunately in the end it didn't affect the results, so neither competitor wanted to lynch us...

Prefer the series org. To sort it out thanks

Total agree, but it's not right really. You should protest, but I fully appreciate why it's not worth the arse ache

Well said. More of us should vote with our feet. I don't know the details this time  yet, but the blatant class rules abuse is becoming more commonplace in these high profile events.

What might be the percentage of jockeys in the double-hander classes?

I assume they get their company paid entries in early thus preventing some genuine pleasure sailors from an entry!

The SailJuice series is just a pre-dinghy show marketing exercise for the 'industry' isn't it?

Shame- they used to be good individual events.

I see barely any D-Ones or RS100s entered/showed up... a crying shame, as last time I checked there wasn't exactly a plethora of handicap events catering for windward/leeward.... although with the cheating going on by Speed Sails, whilst purporting to be responsible 'industry professionals' who knew no wiser, who can blame folks for banking the brownie points at this time of year and saving them for some 'proper racing' at a class event when it warms up a bit?

Is the SailJuice Winter Series  the dinghy racing equivalent  of the Tennis Grand Slam for professionals?

Not unless my 14 year old has an undeclared income!!

Why's everyone taken to bashing this series lately?  I know there have been a couple of issues raised on here (and let's behonest - there's about 2 doz vocal people bleating on, most of whom haven't even been to these events Wink).

My boy has loved doing this series, partly for the racing, partly for the social meeting mates he hasn't seen in a while and partly because it has given him a chance to dribble over all sorts of classes that he doesn't see racing at our home club.

It's been ace for him, and I'm looking forward to competing next year. Smile

I would like to congratulate the winners. Good on them for turning up and doing it. Seems they used the correct sail numbers. And I expect they had up to date measurement as well. Thank goodness for some sanity.

1) because it is handicap racing and anyone taking it too seriously is an easy target for forum banter

2) because 'industry professionals' have been caught cheating, and despite laughing at folks taking it too seriously, this is even funnier forum fodder and a on a slightly more serious note, gives the forum something meaningful to talk about - self policing, protest etiquette etc  (I've got a self confessed 'bad attitude' towards protesting, but doubt I'm alone in this)

3) because it's fecking cold and anyone mad enough to drag a boat to puddle in the middle of nowhere to go handicap racing clearly has a screw loose.

4) because there isn't a 'positivity clause' in the forum rules and regs and moaning is a great British tradition.

5) because [insert current villain class] is a bandit

6) because hearing one post on someone's son enjoying it counts for far more than 100 pages of witchhunting  Thumbs Up

interesting, the 555 fireball is not using the tapedrive/aeroweb main, but a kevlar main, so they are racing legally
