you can do both in September hopefully... or of course at any number of the handicap events over the winter, just as long as your boat is out of class.

Never been before and I might be able to go on Saturday, but would have to take my 3.5 year old triplet daughters along. I notice the tickets only go down to 5 years old, so questions:
- Does it mean under 5s go in for free or are they not allowed?
- Will it be so heaving that it would be a nightmare to keep control of 3 little inquisitive ones?
- Is there somewhere to sit down with them for a nibble ie. not like Southampton or London boat shows where there is never anywhere to sit and eat?

FWIW- it's one of the few sailing books where I feel I've actually remembered anything from it by the time I hit the water.

The others were Jon's book and a Team racing book by Steve Tylecote.

The rest have been a waste of time reading...

It's a pretty kid friendly place I did take mine when they were young many years ago, Restaurant downstairs, plus a few cafes around the perimeter, you should have a word with Rodney, see if we can't fill one of those big Finn boat things with plastic balls, lets the kids play in it whilst you look around at decent boats, make it of some use to wider humanity for a change maybe even fix up a swing from it's 'technical' mast.

I, as reported elsewhere will be taking my crew to complete his first year of being a dinghyist (PSBR actually) together we shall have a bit of a laugh at all the quaint old boats and he will quickly realise how lucky he is to be crewing an Alto. We will be on the look out for a twin hander bandit in extremsis to have a pop at those b**tards in the Merlin unless their PY has moved to something more realistic this season.

We'll turn up with prodding sticks on the D1/Finn stand to see if there is life after death...

I shall also be pointing out a Solo and telling him of the sad tale of a young bloke who became so mentally disturbed he bought one and had it made in a lavender colour. We'll hope to see the new Parker 5 oh and I shall test him on which rope does which, this will become an annual test for the next ten years after which he'll still get it wrong.

I'm really looking forward to it, always get excited this time of the year, won't be long after the clocks go back, and it's back on the sea, no gusts, sail for more than two minutes before you have to tack, hills to slide down and climb up, a horizon to stretch your eyes, salt spray, sunshine, long courses... Oh I forget what it's like it's been so long.
