You can tell that I have a newly acquired boat that I'm trying to sort out. Lots to do means lots of questions. Next on my list is to fix a hole in one of the Holt bouyancy bags. I know you can get quite pricy repair kits, but just wondering if there is a cheap alternative way of fixing small holes?

Did you just want cheap, or did you want longlasting and reliable as well? As I recall in the long distant days when I had to deal with the damned things those latter two were the challenge...

An old bag to cut up for patches and a two part contact adhesive would probably do the job better for the same price or cheaper than one of the kits.
To be honest though in the long term i'd be replacing the bags, preferably with crewsaver ones. If the plastic has gone brittle you'll quite rapidly end up with more repair than bag!

Bostik all purpose glue and some plastic patches kept our Holt bags alive for a couple of years.
Now replaced with Crewsaver ones.

The repair kits aren't that expensive. BTW they use Superglue so if you've got some donor material you could just get a tube of that.

It seems that my local chandlery was mis-sold their repair kit by their suppliers, it was £14.89. Given a new bag is £25 that was too much for me. Now found it for £4.36 + postage from trident which seems much more reasonable.
