This is not particulalry relevant as the RS Association set-up and run the events, not RS the manufacturer.  The 2000 CA appear to have decided to be independant, so I should imagine unless they change their mind nothing will happen in terms of joining in any of the RS events.

well the 2000s are still listed as part of the laser multiclass at Grafham, both on the Grafham site and the class site.

So what will now happen to the laser asymetric regattas?  We have had some good meetings with 2000s, 3000s, 4000s, 5000s plus Vagos and Vortexes too.  In fact there's already one planned at Grafham this summer.

Are RS going to suck the 2000 away to their massive RS only events?

If your club (or you) have any Facebook pages, websites, favourites, bookmarks etc (on your PC or phones!) that point to the old Laser2000.org.uk address, please can you change them / ask the webmaster to change them to point to the new website address of: www.2000class.org

THANKS.

Yeah you can do that too - I still enjoy remembering the look on the face of the Blaze at our club when we overtook him after 125 minutes racing with all 4 on board!

Well one of the advantages of a heavier boat is that it allows a wider range of crew weights to be competitive.  In the top 10 at the Nats there are crews at 200 weight and 400 weight.  Which is another reason why its right for us....one boat that I can crw with my wife or my (5 & 7 year old) kids.

I used to be a big fan of the rotomoulded classes for teaching, as the students could do what they like with them but have now come to the conclusion that if you teach the newbies to look after a boat, then a) it'll last longer regardless, and b) they'll know how to treat whatever craft they move on to.  Additionally, the roto boats all seem to lack something in performance and handling (except maybe the cats) over their grp counterparts, dullijng the enjoyment experience for the student.

Long live the 2K!

The Vision is not in my list of 20 favourite boats, but there is nothing wrong with it.
It is actually no slouch when sailed by a good helm.
I really do not think you are going to get a GRP boat of similar size for remotely similar money, unless you place a very big order.
Personally, I think that 2-man racing dinghies should weigh under 100kgs.
Training is a different game.
The criticisms of Rotobaths also apply to single-skin GRP after a year or 6 depending on the weight.

LPE did do a run of "training" 2ks- the yellow hulled ones. They had a reinforced bow, didn't have the stowage buckets, had simple controls (not led to the thwart) and cheaper sails.
