Agreed. The Vision (hideous boat, in any setting) could simply be killed off and replace by the far superior 2K, and with the right incentives they'd sell by the bucket load. I used to be a big fan of the rotomoulded classes for teaching, as the students could do what they like with them but have now come to the conclusion that if you teach the newbies to look after a boat, then a) it'll last longer regardless, and b) they'll know how to treat whatever craft they move on to. Additionally, the roto boats all seem to lack something in performance and handling (except maybe the cats) over their grp counterparts, dullijng the enjoyment experience for the student. Long live the 2K!

ahem.
Speaking as one sometimes tasked with making decisions about buying training boats, I'm interested to see what happens with regard to the Vision and the 2000 coming out of the same stable, so to speak. The Sport England £10k grant has led a fair few RTCs to buy the rs 'double vision' package where you get two for your £10k. The same £10k would only ever have bought one 2000, which is a shame because imho the 2000 is a far superior training boat. Lots of institutions have continued buying the 2000 for this reason, despite the cash incentives. If RS could find a way of marketing a 'training 2000' whre you could get your two for just over £10k ie some input from the purchaser, I think they'd be on to a real winner, with the onliy victim being the vision (which imhp deserves a slow, lingering death). |

The launching trolley is not part of the strict one design policy of the 2000 class. You can re-design it all you like :-)
I know that some of the people at Broadstairs, who launch off a sandy beach, have a launching trolley with wheels at least double width to the normal trolley wheels. |

Not me. Even the old light ones are way too heavy on a shingle beach. My back hurts just thinking about it........ If the launching trolley was redesigned with wider tyres it might make things easier perhaps, I'd still count myself out though. |

And how many people will buy one now just because RS is producing it now?
At least they have a new builder who will be interested in promoting boat sales. The same cannot be said for the 4000 3000 ISO Boss etc
