Probably already been asked and/or answered, but will the 2k now join up with the larger RS events? It's just I've got a choice of 2k's to 'borrow' if they join the Eurocup...

I understand the 2000 class association aren't keen to join in the RS Association events at the moment.

In those circumstances, it's likely Laser will be getting nothing from RS.
I'd guess that was the case as RS are having to build new moulds - if they'd bought it from Laser, surely the moulds would have been part of the deal?

I think you'll find Phil Morrison owns the design and commisioned Laser to build it and the rest of your conclusions are pretty much there...

That'll probably change in due course.... especially around some of the end of year stuff and sprints.  Even if the current owners want to maintain control of their dedicated circuit, there would be no harm in giving them the option to join in the bigger events too.  They offer a festival sailing atmosphere WITH class racing... does it get any better than that?

I think the door is open, I sit on the RS Association Exec and personally would be happy to include them in our events etc  This is my personal view as I haven't spoken to the other members of the ctte/association but I'm pretty sure it would be a welcome development.

One of the strengths of the class is the class association, it is extremely well run and the fleet is terrific to race in. Not only that if you want to sail in a big fleet then 2000 is the class. (seems to be the new name looking at the CA site). I've sailed in both fleets (not recently), they are quite a bit different. If they stay separate it's no slight on RS, they are just different.

I didn't realise they'd sold as many as 2200 boats.
How many are in the UK?
Where else are they found, and does this fit in with RS trying to sell more boats like 400's abroad?

The 2000 CA seems to provide an awful lot of events for a £15 sub.
Compared with our schedule and sub....

Exactly what I thought. I did a race in a 2K during the summer and so had to join the CA. 15 quid and I've had a couple of magazines come too!
