Consistently top 5 at the Nats with 24-25 stone. Top 10 with a bit more. So meets your needs.
The 2K has an Assym that lets you run very deep....the jib will flop across with the kite drawing efficiently....so no need to goosewing (but I don't recall the Class rules banning it - just never come up as it's pointless). Matt

Not sure about goosewinging, but in answer to the earlier question - they are f**king amazing downwind or reaching in a big blow

It works so well on the 200 that they banned it for class racing. Am I correct in saying the L2k does not have a wing-wang system? |

2000 has a single line launching system for the kite. The pole goes straight out forwards.
But the "running deep" is more a function of the kite shape than the wing Wang by a foot or two. Phil Morrison, the designer of the 2000, was part of the decision to move to RS. AND if you want to check on the quality of racing, take a look at the Endeavour Trophy this year :-) |

No - it is pointless - I've experimented....you're quicker running with windward heel. With the kite shape that projects the kite to windward and puts the CoE in the right place and away you zoom.

Which all takes skill, practise and lots of communication between helm and crew: sounds like an ideal boat for racing :-)

I agree goose winging the kite worked on the 200. Was much quicker in the lighter stuff. Having never sailed a 2000 i will listen to Matt and reserve comment.

Why use up the material, just bin it! I'm just repeating what the local sailors are saying, which includes the Nat Champ btw... |

I don't think the Nat Champ ever had a new boat...and his son has been very effective in a new one. I suspect at Snet Beach there may be a slightly warped view due to the fact that that the Nat Champ has been so successful in an old boat...
