i just hope RS dont shaft the class by introducing new carbon masts, and lighter stiffer hulls and whatever else can render a sucessful boat obsolete/uncompetitive, and kill the race circuit, since they are one of very few proper fleet racing boats with a big circuit in the uk..

Interesting... with all the rumours about PSE I wonder what's behind that.

well I've always thought the 2000 was alright as it goes... would probably be a good boat for me with a little 'un onboard in a few years.  Rockhopper certainly made it look good at the FOM.

Now at least it will have a company with some credibility behind it... good luck to it and RS for taking it on.

Its a much, much better boat than the vision constructed out of proper materials.

I think itll be an asset to the RS range and i very much doubt they'll change anything, though it might get a facelift.

Well i can say i thought i had got away from RS sailing by buying the 2000 It is a good boat alot better than the 200 round our area with the waves we have it seems to plough through them where as the 200 seems to almost stop .That said i joined the class as we have 14 in our club and you get a race all down the fleet very good for taking the little un out sailing easy to right once you go over.Only thing is you need extra help pulling it up the beach.
I am sure RS will do ok out of it and the class will not suffer at all
Retired now after 35 seasons in a row and time for a rest.

Maybe they want to concentrate more on 'Laser performance *---- pushchairs'
Seems to be a lot of business politics going on, what with the unresolved builders rights issues over the Laser 1, or the Laser SB3 now known as the SB20 rather than anything that reflects on the success of a particular boat.

I see this as like flogging off your wedding ring when you've reached the bottom of the barrel.  It's probably the quickest route to an injection of cash.  And Paramedic is spot on, a far better boat than the Vision.
the same, but different...

I like the idea of the 2000 - good class racing, stable platform for beginner/intermediate to move into, pretty robust, never need to de-power, reasonable sail plan so can sail in silly stuff, a good fun boat when the breeze is up.

However, weigh a ton and overpriced.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else
