Alternative to Bostik 2003

   I have been given a spare pair of Dart hulls. One of them has a split on the front deck/hull joint. I have taken the deck off and found that the polystyrene that helps given strength to the hull has also come away on that side. This is no doubt due to water ingress as that surface is damp. My plan is to dry it out and clean up the surfaces ready for re-gluing. The adhesive that was used to originally bond the polystyrene to the hull is Bostik 2003. This is no longer available, does anyone know of a suitable alternative as I have asked Bostik and they don't supply one.

	Is it possible to confirm a couple of things - Do you mean a layer of Foam between the layers of laminate? Or is it literally stuck to the side of the hull (if this is the case, the foam will be for providing buoyancy and not be structural). The purpose of the foam in the lay up is to increase thickness and therefore stiffness without substantially increasing the weight. Without it lying between the layers of the laminate it is essentially useless. (Except for providing buoyancy, as described above). If it is a layer of foam between the laminate, it will most likely NOT be polystyrene, seeing as polystyrene has a nasty habit of dissolving when in contact with resin. (Seeing as polyester resin is dissolved in styrene). Best thing for sticking that back together will be a pot of Gurit 106. Hope that all made sense... Edited by dave.blakesley - 10 Jan 13 at 1:27am

	It's Definatley polystyrene and its stuck between the two inside edges of the hull bridging the gap between them. Don't forget the dart hull is less than 12 inches wide at this point and you can feel the lack of support with it removed.
