Capsized, on land, in the set for the end of the Reservoir Dogs, excellent!
Are you polishing?

I though it was the use of the word "weapon" that GRF was making faces at. I remember windsurfers in the 90's talking like that about their boards. Sounded naff then, and still does.

Do you need the crane to lift the iCon?

.... er   No !

at <87kg all up on the water it is a bit of a doddle....  and before any of the regular views come our way on this please note ... we weighed a great variety of similarly sized existing SMOD's when Icon was just an idea and this is really quite light.

Well that is 'light' compared to the surprising 'real world' numbers we actually got  ... these not necessarily being the ones given on promotional websites and in marketing materials !

Still I'd like the idea of a crane for the BM event for Icon rather than the 'gelcoat unfriendly' launching at QMSC  we are so familiar with ....

blaze720, why not publish these, if there are manufacturers missleading the sailing public then it is resonable that they should know.

One thing that people who own dev, resdtricted & one-design classes do is weigh their boats as the number gets recorded on a certificate. This is a good quality control.

SMOD owners have been sucked into believing what they are told, they never weigh their boats and believe the "marketing" figures presented ... which are perhaps misleading.

I think as a user group it would be interesting to weigh boats ready to sail and publish the figures. It would certainly "out" the manufactures that are misleading their customers ...

In the windsurfing industry the weights of boards, sails, masts etc can have up to a 10%  published tolerance... obviously being only a 6kg board this is a reasonable QC value, however I'd have though that your average dinghy of 50-100kg could bring that down to nearer 1-2% without too much grief.
