Festive Old Men?
 
Just a thought but if Broxbourne becomes the 'spiritual home' of this event, why not have FOM qualifying events round the country to get to 'the Big One'? Why have 'Sailjuice' when you could have 'Sailale'? Tongue

Wouldn't that make it only open to the very best which kind of defeats the object of the fom? I do like the title though, sailale...

We need one on the Sea, in fact I think we need one on the sea at Hythe, I want to watch y'all in those puddle rigged tubs on a bit of decent open water, with moving up and down bits and a bar that doesn't close.

Don't drink ale. Don't have a reputation (can't dance like a farmer). Don't have a boat with a dodgy handicap. Can't drive around the M25 and stay sane. Too elite-est for me.

It's not about anything else other than putting a face to a name, racing on the water for the craic, there's nothing dodgy about an EPS handicap, in fact probably it's the opposite, yes there's a bunch of semi pro jocks trying to flog stuff, but who cares, they showed up, more the merrier. The heart and soul of the Forum Open meeting is the fun of doing what we do, with the result just being there to record that we were there together.

Not everyone has to get peeved to have a laugh and you couldn't find a less elitist environment if you searched the entire sailing world, they camp in actual Tents ffs, some have pikey vans, some turf up with back packs presumably having hitched there and blagged a ride, me I'm the classiest act there, which kind of says it all.

Yep classy, drunken in a gents changing room after dark, thrown over a fence, driven whilst under the influence, stayed at Cynthia's house of pain, stumbled back n the morning with the head from hell, moaned about anything but still had a laugh. I guess that summed up the fom in a way that nothing else could ever do, or want to. You, iGRF are the living epitome of the Forumites Open Meeting folks, and thanks to you made the event the best one that I attended in 2012, so I salute you in a slightly strange way.
