I thought it was when you ran over a trout or something... the motion of the boat sliding down its back is akin to planing on a faster boat.

Is that how iGRF's wetsuit got split?  Was he run over by a, pretending to plane, Solo?

You must of porked up since last time i saw you Matt?  I would of said you would of been fairly spot on for a Solo on open water.  I think Matt Howard was about 92kg last time he won the nationals and he was looking ripped at the D-one nationals recently.  I found that a t 95kg (my heavist in the Solo) i could hold my own in most conditions other than marginal planing, where the lighter boys would destroy me off wind.

Judging from the before and after photos of a mate of mine who's just finished a 6 month Afghan tour for the RAF, perhaps you could ask for some more overseas time?  I wouldn't exactly say he's come back ripped though, but he is now intimately aware of the Bristol Scale which featured heavily in day-to-day chitter chatter at the base.

Is that the kind of "muscle wastage" you get when you stop eating loads of pizzas and mars bars? Or are you the Terminator?
