Istanbul to Venice

   Does anybody know how long it would take to get from Istanbul (or Bodrum, I guess) to Venice by yacht? With as few ports of call as possible, no sightseeing. That's the trouble I'm having, all the information I can find is for tours and cruises.

	That really depends on lots of things - weather, time of year, route taken, size of boat, is it a sailing yacht or motor yacht? etc Best to ask the navigator of your yacht to give you an estimate. If you are navigating yourself then why don't you do a rough route plan?

	Okay, maybe I should've been more up-front. I'm a novelist, this is research for a story. I wanted to leave that detail out, as I realize that some people will probably find my posting here annoying. I really am sorry, but I've done all the research I can, and, as stated, I'm absolutely at my wits end. Info-wise: it's mid-October, the route is whatever's the shortest distance between two points, the yacht is somewhere around eighty feet long, and motor. Would the weather would make this impossible (not difficult, impossible)? Also as stated, they won't be stopping in every port in between, but what I don't know is how many times they'd HAVE to stop for whatever reason. I don't need scads of detail, it's told from the point of view of a passenger, not the captain; I JUST need to know how long it would take. If this is an impossible question, or if, as stated, it's wildly inappropriate, all I can do is say I'm sorry, and thanks anyway. :)

	Thank you for the information that is a great help. I would estimate that is approximately 1600 miles so quite a trip in a 80 foot motor yacht. This will probably need to stop every few hundred miles to re-fuel. Depending on the average speed of the yacht you would take about 7 days without stops. So add in overnight stops to refuel plus some allowances for bad weather the trip would take about 2 weeks. Now if you were to do it on a commercial ship with higher average speed and larger fuel carrying capacity then the time will be much lower.
