in contenders we run a chain plate from the block to the cleat arm thing, so the block is always in line with the cleat.
the same, but different...

Thats a neat idea, I might give that a go.

I see a main sheet cleat as a necessary evil, and anything that minimises their impact is good.

Tip i was given for using any mainsheet swivel / cleat that is difficult to cleat / uncleat.
(Assuming angles are correct).
Run a piece of elastic through the cleat, tieing so that it sits in the cleat holding it open a little. How much it's held open is adjusted by tension on the elastic until it feels right. That slight opening seems to help with both cleating and uncleating which seems odd but seems to work.

To be honest I'm blown away with the generosity. This was a second hand part on a second hand boat and whilst I dont expect them to be doing this again, they made a promise and stuck to it.

Steve told me that their reputation was very important to them and they wanted all Allen brothers customers to be happy with their products.

Well they have won me over. Any company that is prepared to stand behind there products and customers that well gets my support, and of course they are a UK company which in these difficult times is something else worth considering.

Finally, I know I have been given this so I'm bound to be happy, but it is a really nice bit of kit. Next time your in the market for something like this I would check them out. Nice simple design, well made and a lot less than a Harken!!

I'd love to although we are a bit short on baby sitters at the mo and Hannah has decided that she is quite happy not getting quite so cold... but if there is one available sometime let me know and I'll see what can be arranged.

I think you would be best to contact Steve in our sales office on 01621774689.

The swivel jammer that you have was made the shape it is for a very specific application, they cannot be bent or the cleat turned over, give Steve a call and we will swap it for the correct type.

A Vortex

I'm still keeping my eyes open for a 59er but with the cold weather setting in Hannah isnt as keen to get wet so i thought I'd get myself a something to do up and race during the winter.
