Maybe we could all be listed as his sponsors?

Problem solved thanks to Martin G.  Perhaps Simon H will hold the sail and price for Hughph for when the funds arrive?

Thanks guys! Simon H's price to rent the sail was very good- it was just my funds! Martin has sorted me out which is great, and he is very close.

Also Dragon Medea is actually spelt that way.... :)

I'm always open to new sponsors Rodney if you want to have your name on the boat ;) :P

Cheers

Here's a tip... No one wants to sponsor the team that can't find the funds to compete... If you're really serious about sponsorship, you'll need to understand ROI. Coming on a public forum and acknowledging you can't fund the <£100 to RENT a sail is not good for brand association.

All the best though.

That's your take, mine would be how good is the team? Not their personal finances. I think some sponsors would actually fund these guys because of their predicament. What a great  PR story, we helped them when they were struggling and now look at the results.

Valid points Kev, but I'll stand by the fact that any significant sponsor would still look to an overall campaign management as well as the results to judge progress on their ROI, and this thread is a little on the desperate side for a professional/semi-professional campaign.

But I do understand what you're saying and can see the positive PR angle of associating your brand with someone from grassroots to the podium.

Cheers for the points pondmonkey and Kev.

Ultimately this was a very last ditch attempt to sort out a main. However, if you looked into what we are running at the moment, our overall campaign management is very organised atm, consistent training camps, structured sessions, and a very well organised boat. Obviously you guys weren't to know this, so the thread would give a bad impression.

However we have sorted out a mainsail now, and so can get the most out of our weekend, which is what matters. Appearing desperate is better than not getting to train at all! And time on the water is what matters.

Happy sailing,
PHS

Hats off to you - you've had the balls to post on the forum to get hold of a main and it has worked. I call that using your initiative. Now go and get a result in Weymouth and tell us how it went! Clap

I think it's nice to see the power of the forum. Post a problem and get it solved.

Now we see why...

Taken from the Virtual Rigger FB page

Piers and Ashley - in the now infamous GBR151 'stolen' 49er sail - a very very important GBR coach wasn't impressed with the boys borrowing a mate's sail but then calmed down when he understood what VR was trying to achieve during the weekend....— at WPNSA.
