Hi all,

We are in a bit of a tight spot, we are supposed to be sailing at Weymouth this weekend, however we a lacking a main for our boat, and can't really stick an Old rig main up a new mast. It is a very important weekend for us- and we were ideally going to be training with our new rig on, however without a main this could be hard aha.

Is there a 49er sailor out there who could lend us a main for the weekend? (Doesn't matter how knackered it is). Payment would have to be in cake and endless gratitude , as I am a student so can't really afford to rent one.

Hope this comes across the right way, we've been searching for ages but I don't get paid till the end of the month etc as otherwise we would have bought one second hand... Normally I would try to avoid doing this however me and my crew are getting desperate!

Thanks guys,
HughPH

BTW we are in Weymouth from Friday, or am in Oxford today and  friday morning.

You could try phoning Simon Hiscocks 07771 890056 he fits out 49ers at Portland & probably knows most of the fleet

Cheers, Simon very kindly offered us a virtually new mainsail for £100- which was very fair and good of him to offer, however we cannot afford that combined with the other costs for the weekend.

What about the bankofmumanddad for the £100 until you get paid. If not there is always Wonga.com

No point in asking Larry Ellison for a sub just now as his sailing budget has just been blown out of the window.

Can't you refer to your footer? Surely the provision of nice new sails is a sponsors job!

And I'm sure your title sponsor would prefer it if you spelled their name correctly.... Wink

Come on guys give the bloke a break.
He is only trying to get on the water in s boat with no budget.

I am sure you have scrounged bits of other people in your time, maybe a bit smaller like tape or the odd shackle just to get you out.

Fair comment about spelling sponsors names correctly.
Cheers
Gordon

Hugh
That's a very good price Simon has given you.
Why not offer to work for Simon in your vacation to pay off the debt - kip on the floor of one of the other 49er sailors who live in Portland.
That is how I part-funded my sailing when I was a student -working for a sailmaker

I almost feel like we should have a whip round! Almost  Wink

Maybe we could all be listed as his sponsors?
