Looks north to me!

I guess there is nothing to stop someone who lives somewhere up where it is cold and dark for 6 months of the year organizing a forum event for those similarly afflicted? Plenty of clubs in the Manchester area or in Yorkshire.

Won't be long before he won't be part of the UK anyway, will Johnny Foreigners be allowed to take part in future events?

Well, it was a long way for allot of people, not least Rodney and Sue.  I think given the time that was available to organise this we were lucky to have anywhere to sail at all.  I should imagine if people want the event further up the country they should start asking their clubs now and feeding back to Rodney.  it was a 300 mile 5 hour round trip for me so for a similar distance and time if you Drove North you would be near Sheffield!  Thats pretty northern by anyones book!

Right, it's time to revisit the Bandit watch thread, watching that Rodney in his armchair, shuffling from side to side, here am I still knackered, can't walk, all I recall was lots of frenetic tacking and jumping about.

There he is, sat there ghosting along with a yardstick of what?

1060... which is similar to the Blaze at 1040.  So when we raced each other 'the men's way' (none of that spreadsheet nonsense) and I beat you over the water, it proved that I simply sailed better than you on that occasion, rather than either boat being a bandit or hobbled.   Fortunately, as a man you accepted it and bought the first beer.

Next year I'll be taking a Solo (hopefully to somewhere as welcoming and friendly as Broxbourne, if not Broxbourne again as it worked for me).  This in theory will give you a better chance as the Solo is rated at 1150, but I will still race you scratch and will aim to beat you across the water.  To do any less would be nothing short of insulting...

Hopefully dual nationality rules apply! Anyway if the worst comes to pass there'll be no one living north of the Big Wall ..... they'll have left long before the single question
plus ....
And you lot were complaining it was cold .... where I come from the photos looked like a Scottish Summer, next you'll be telling me it gets dark at night in the south!? Cry

A typical light day's sailing in the Largs Channel

Yep, missed out the "gap" bit ....... By the scientific process of random selection Rudyard Lake Sailing Club  looks like it is pretty much 200/ 250mls from everywhere and is clearly therefore the centre of the sailing universe and a prime case for inspection. By all accounts the natives are friendly there too.

Maybe us up north will have to organise a Forumites northern qualifiers if Rodney allows the "Brand" to be used in other regions ....... Handshake

Of course I totally bow to your superior skills and years at the helm, but beating me whilst asleep at the wiggle thing..

Just a bit to much for an improver to take

Well there was talk of Grafham, which is pretty central and I've sailed there lots over the years, but it won't be as cosy nor as friendly as those Broxbourne folk, I got the feeling they really enjoyed the tenor of the event, they did a first rate job in pretty tricky wind directional conditions, none of those races turned into anything like some of the farces we have down our way.

Anyone know what the bar arrangements are late at night in the Grafham changing rooms, I don't recall a single event there that scratched the "that was a laugh" spot, the sailing is good, big water, as reasonably clean air as you'll get inland, but then I felt that was another benefit of Broxbourne, however bad things turned out, you could normally catch up or watch your fellow competitor sat in a hole as you winged you way in on a shift then next day find yourself sat in a hole as the entire fleet sailed off, the Good Lord giveth and the Good Lord taketh away..
