I also loved the point where Mike (Blaze720) won a how to sail book.  How many nationals titles Mike??? HA HA HA

I am indeed humbled ... but console myself with the fact that  1) Nobody smashed into Icon 03 2) We managed to just about sail round  the various reckless late tackers (you know who you are !)  2) Andy the dancing farmer is still talking to me (crew) 3) At no time did we have to witness GRF's wetsuit 'malfunction'  (that's what he wants us to think - I'm not so sure he was not already fully aware of it ...  yes ... it takes all sorts) 4) We survived our late night curry in Hertford (seemed a good idea at the time) and associated refreshments ...

Mike L.

Was a great weekend, fun sailing and social.  I never thought I'd end up drinking rum in the gents changing rooms!  Great to put some faces to names and to get a sail in Punk!  Hopefully next time will be slightly less freezing cold overnight!

Thanks to Rodney, Broxbourne SC, Mark and everyone else involved in getting the event organised Clap

Hmmm, think I'll have to get that trophy commissioned - a pewter sculpture of a D-One crushing a poor defenceless buoy with helm standing up shouting "I'm the mark!"

That windward leg was clearly too long to start off with - it was much better after my 'modifications'.

it was truly horrible... Graeme's trying to deflect humour on this one.  But really, he'd be better off just admitting that either his wife packed the wrong wetsuit (that one was for kite board racing), or, and I do hope you can hold you lunch down, Graeme got more than the extras he bargained for when he returned to the dungeon lower ground floor of Katie's B&B.

All in all, funniest moment for me was Mark Jardine suggesting we should try dwarf tossing...

That wont happen Rodney, the D-One has an open transom so if you decide to sit down quickly in the bottom of the boat like you did this weekend you will fall out of the back.  I must say it was the only reason you overtook me in that race, I have not laughed so hard in a long time....Acutally i lie, Graeme's crash tack in front of Mike L was pretty funny, he had no water, gave Mike little time or room to avoid.  Just priceless, i liken it to a 80 year old woman driving her Mini Metro the wrong way up a motorway.  That and Marks mark rounding, he literally took the Mark with him and the whole fleet had to Round the 'Mark'.  There were some great examples of sailing out there and some great 'comedy' moments, which at any other event would of resulted in shouting and screaming.  The spirit of the event was summed up by my tacking battle with Lasernut, no need to call Starboard, just tell me when you want to tack i said.  Special effort made by Lasernut not to shaft me downwind.  Thats what it should all be about for me.  It could of been the most awful event ever, with shifty light winds, but it was made great by the spirit and the people.

Never realised it was Brandy and Babysham in his mug, what a waste of a top drink by some out of control fly boys Cry

best rule observation... someone borrowing Peaky's Blaze, hits nigh on every buoy on the 4th race saturday... but it was 'only the racks, and they don't count'.  LMFAO on that one.

I have to say, everyone should try sailing a Finn one day.  I don't think until you've actually felt the power in the sail you can truly appreciate the Herculean effort the Olympics guys go to one-to-one pumping that sail in 20-odd knots.  Massively impressive boats... everything just worked as it should (except the helmsman when I was in it!)

I

That was me, at that point Peaky and I were having a battle so the fourth race was a boat swap so I figured take peaky's Blaze out, break every rule in the book including ungentlemanly conduct and he'd be binned, (hadn't realised they weren't going to count his result in that one) he got me back by DNF'ing in mine, got right to the line then 180'd and came in.
