perfect- plenty of time to pick up a pasty and sit back and relax waiting for Race 4... where a childhood dream of sailing a Finn shall be realised (and Grumpf will get his ass handed to him (again) this time by someone who hasn't done a competitive race in a dinghy since the Stevie Nicks in 2011)

I'll be reading some Eplett tonight and will have to dig out my dinghy kit from the back of garage.  I do hope I didn't give my buoyancy aid to the scouts and I know my lucky gloves have a new home now, so I best call in at the builders merchant at lunch and buy some Ben Ainslie specials.

Do you not find the fingers stick together on them? I tried a pair in a windy race and had to rip them off becasue I couldnt let go of the mainsheet!

Where do I find the entry form to sign and bring along?

Allow me to tell you the tale of PM's 'lucky' gloves, a while back now he was going through one of his pre menopausal hissy fits about dinghy sailing, I was swapping some kit with him, can't even remember what it was now, but our combined change in value judgements meant that the kit we swapped was worth more to each other than that which we owned. PM obviously was stricken with such guilt at his depreciated assessment of worth of what was to my mind already more than a fair swap, he decided to empty the contents of his dinghy locker into the box he shipped to me.

Me, ever the child with a cardboard box, takes it home and eagerly opens it in the presence of the bread knife and daughters of darkness, whereupon all their assumptions of the I.Q.'s and mental health of those that I regularly spend time conversing by keyboard with (allegedly more than the time I spend with them) came true.

The Frey Bentos tinned pie first raised their interest, 'Old Fat guy is he then?' 'no he's quite young actually and quite bright' said I defensively blurring the truth. "What's this then? a pair of washing up gloves with 'Love and Hate' inscribed on the knuckles...' I got my coat and went out.

He could at least have scribbled "port and stbd" on them!

My wife and boys are coming along, more out of morbid curiousity than anything else.

but where's the fun in that?  LOL

I went to Halfords yesterday with the intention to play a great little trick on Graeme... I was trying to find one of them Rainbow car bumper stickers that supposed to mean you're an 'eternally happy person' or something similar.  I figured it would look good on the back of the EPS at the FOM.

Sadly Halfords didn't have any... in the thespian capital of the UK they've either run out or the store manager's a bit closet and refuses to stock them for fear of being outed.

I did find something, but £14.99 for a long pink sticker that says 'powered by fairydust' seemed like a bit of an expensive practical joke and being an impending solo sailor, therefore needing to grow up rapidly to 'fit in', I took the sensible decision and left without buying anything.

I'm just finishing packing, just running throught the checklist..

and finally

Enough to simulate a 'hurricane' I wasn't thinking of using it for the racing, more to simulate a hurricane in the campsite later in the evening.
