Is it epoxy?

Vinylester, unless Devoti have changed it. Nothing wrong with VE though.

Indeed. Much better than poly. I'd have thought epoxy not that much more expensive but a nice marketing point. The sailing pubic view epoxy boats as the premium even if vinyl ester is up to the job.

Icon sailing tomorrow, can't wait only one sleep. Much better than debating residual values!

Enjoy ....

I used to drive an Alfa once for similar reasons  - and if you have never driven a decent one you would not understand.    However with Devoti involvement and manufacture I do think the 'new class' risk is at a very comfortable level... one of the prime reasons for the collaboration.

PS- I'm missing 03 already !!

How is the Icon. Your views, weights of crew etc. Any photos in a breeze? Once had an Alfasud too , bits fell off faster than it went round corners ...... Really ..... That fast.
Hope the icon handles like the Alfa, but doesn't decompose as quick!

.... If only the Germans had built Alfa's in the day !  But perhaps  they would not have had that special character ... far too sensible for that.

.... and um no whatever and back on subject .... for the record I do not think Devoti build quality will be an issue for Icon !

I had an Alfasud 1.5 ti. What a great car. The fastest point to point car I ever owned.....pity I had to stop all the time to collect the bits that fell off. I hope the Icon is like that but without the disintegration.

Very pleased with it.

Mrs B was keen to do some sailing, but what should we get? Initially I'd be at the driving end but with an aim that she could start helming, so I wanted something simple to sail, auto-draining (ie no buoyancy bags or self bailers), able to carry a bit of weight (140kg, 90 of them mine) but still be fun to sail. Then a bloke at our club developed a new boat that seemed to fit the spec perfectly! Mrs B did quite a lot of crewing on '03' early on so she was convinced of the choice.

Went out for a potter this afternoon.  Very little wind, but enough to get it moving, so Mrs B had a bit of a drive.  Next a friend and his 5yr old daughter who's keen to try anything came out.  So that was 2 adults & a kid with a combined weight well over 200Kg. Sail setting & weight distribution far from perfect but the boat still got going.  5yr old kept asking when we can do it again - seems to be an Icon theme......

As yet I haven't had it out in anything of a blow (so no pics), but hope to take it travelling to some bigger bits of water in the next few months.

Mike B.
