Not that you'd know it but Nicks lined up for a silver right now if he sails the medal race OK, I hope we get to see the medal race at least, there has been precious little coverage of the RSX, and the 49ers seem to be a bit light on coverage as well, or have I missed something yesterday, i couldn't find anything on iplayer.

I saw the RSX's the other day, bl00dy good to watch and a bit gutted they won't be at 2016. I haven't caught the 49ers yet, not for the want of trying, just never seem to be on.

The problem I have is the switching between the events, you start getting into something like the women's 470 and then they cut to the radials or something for another half an hour. Just want to watch a full race, start to finish. Then there seems to be a complete ban on sailing terminology, which I partially understand but would prefer to hear about people gaining through  tacking on particular shifts than the life stories of the competion. I know Tom Slingsby used to to cage fight, he used to have to be paid to sail by his parents, but don't have a clue how he got past Goodison in the race they were rambling on about that stuff. FWIW, I was learning stuff from one of the windsurfing commentators and started really getting into it.

As I keep banging on about there's very little difference between racing windsurfers and dinghies, all that's different is the boat/board handling, so when it comes to the wind, the course racing tactics etc the commentary could be the same, if they were not so dumb. Simon Bornhoft who is a coach and has raced himself back in the day, i thought gave a way better description than those BBC sailing hacks.

But he was only allowed to speak now and again when they weren't playing the bloody joker or filming the crowd.

But.. it is the best televised sailing coverage I've ever seen and tbh I enjoyed the Finn sailing more than the predictable procession the RSX is.

The director of the cameras seems to struggle to cover a bit of excitement in slow boats like the Stars - 'watch the finish to see if Percy and Simpson can get inside the top 7 to get gold' - no way, much too tricky.

They have got these magnificent cameras that can zoom right in on a boat, and thats all they want to do.. How the hell are they going to follow a 49er or RSX that close?

The cats will never get a look in!
