I think we just have to accept that the Dane is coming out with the performance of a lifetime. He's not just beating Ainslie but all the others as well.

He's 12 kgs heavier and it's been windy, hence his better upwind speed, it's just physics, if the wind moderates after today and the medal race gets held in lighter conditions, it could still happen for Ben couldn't it. (Someone needs to do the maths on the medal race v overall total, I wasn't at all hopeful until I read that, weight is everything in one design sailing (assuming your perfect at doing everything else))

I am not getting drawn into the Giles or Ben question - they are both great sailors as are Ed Wright, Andrew Mills and Mark Andrews who are all capable of putting in great results on their day.  As for Jonas, the Dane, he has proven his skills in 2009 by winning the Finn Gold Cup that year.  Jonas has been out and in of Finns since then but started some serious work on equipment last year which I am sure has helped his performance this week.

JHC just appears to come into this regatta at the absolute top of his game- mentally and physically fit, maybe without the same expectations on him as some of his rivals.  This is either positive or negative... but in a sport where being in tune with natural surroundings is so key, it's no wonder that a clear, but seemingly relaxed approach can be effective.

I wouldn't write BA off yet, he's come back from worse and he's still in second overall..... hardly curtains.

What can i say well done to Ben i think i am not the only one who was worried untill that medal race finished .
Still the future is bright for the finn class what a brill week of weather they have had and everyone has shown that sailing is such a great sport to be in Wink

I thought his parting comment was more relevant when asked about going to Rio it went something along the lines, 'sailing these things is destroying my body'.
