I've not moved mine since I've got the boat and couldn't tell you what they are set at. I don't think it's very important

+1

Shrouds are only really there to keep the mast in the boat with the kite up.

certainly the theory stacks up doesn't it. when i first put my boat together i put mine a couple of holes further out thinking i was big enough to handle it. it may have been my relative inexperience with the boat or coming to it fairly cold after a couple of years away from sailing but i couldn't get the rig to work as well upwind as the people around me. i changed it back after a couple of weeks and it seemed to hold its own at the first nationals so i left it on the 'standard' inner setting.

one of the other reasons i ditched it was that it prevented me from getting the shrouds down to hole 4 though that may be more due to the shrouds themselves (mine do seem fractionally shorter than others), however as i've now come to the conclusion that the shrouds go on hole 3 and never change (it's all about the mast rake!) i may have a tweak with the spreaders again. sadly no nationals for me as i have to go to a wedding but i will certainly be at the Hayling open at the end of June.

thanks Andrew.  I'll stick with the shorter inner setting .  I have at least a few basic techniques issues to sort (i.e. to do with my sailing) before either fiddling too much with settings and making the boat harder to sail.  I sail with the 8.4 and am using hole 3 or 4 with rake generally 4 to 5 sometimes at 6.

Will also be missing the nationals - but because of work in Europe where they arnt too bothered about our bank holidays :-(

The closer we get to the Nats the better the forecast is looking- Good Times!

Looking like it is going to be a good event. Fairly strong entry so far and I know of more who are signing up on the day, so it will hopefully build even more. With Paignton crazy golf and go karting as well as Chris' promise that it will be the best event EVER (I may have just made that up...) It is looking good!

Aahh bless. Paul's out there practicing right now. An after his 'performance' on Saturday I'd say it was needed... :-D
