the astroturf is awesome! it doesnt scratch the paint either as any sand in it just goes to the bottom of the "pile"

Thanks guys, I was also looking to recover a Sprint15 trolley and intended using 'camping roll' glued with some 'Dunlop tub cement' left over from my cycle racing days.
 
Just this evening, I had a quick look round B&Q for any other ideas, saw the artificial 'grass' like you see on greengrocers stalls at around £10 per metre (2m Width) wondered if that is kind to boats?
 
The problem with using ordinary style carpet or such, is that it can retain moisture and you will end up long term with a case of osmosis with GRP boats where it permanently sits on it.
 
As far as the solid foam tyres go, they are far heavier than standard tyres, I don't know if your trolley would be left with any positive bouyancy which could make positioning it under the hulls harder. I also found (on a Firefly trolley) that they are far less 'compliant' and more awkward across stony ground.

And on this subject - anyone know whether it is possible to get the inserts which reduce the trollry wheel hub diameter? and if so where?

Sorry I meant that foam filled tyres are heavy and that you would be better off not using the foam option. This would mean that you would still need to check your tyres every six months to make sure they are inflated. Some people use 'camping' roll and this works fine.

Thanks for the info, I had seen the windsport stuff but didn't  know if there was something that did the job better these days that I can source locally without having to pay for a load of postage (thinking it looks a lot like decent "camping" roll).
I am not sure I follow what you mean about the tyres being heavy when they are foam filled and still needing inflating? Surely you can't inflate a foam cored tyre? Have I missed something? I accept they are heavy.
Tramp is OK as far as I can tell although it will need to come off to have the jib wear patches replaced. (but thanks for the offer)

Or you can used the white closed cell foam which is often used in packaging. It is often used to pack car parts so try your local BMW garage or similar.
Foam filled wheels are quite heavy so you will need to carry on inflating them every six months. I have a spare trampoline for a Dart if you happen to need one.

My dart 18 launching "trolley" needs a new tyre and tube fitting so while I have it home I was going to give it a tart up and sort out to get it good again for the next few years.

2 questions:
1. What is the foam padding stuff typically used on dinghy and cat trolleys, presumably stuck down with contact adhesive. Is there a convenient source of it in flat form?

2. Has anyone tried the foam filled trolley tyres as they don't require me to reinflate them every 6 months and will probably last longer.

These are the normal size trolley wheels not cat trax balloon jobbies.
