Sounds like what's needed here is an IAC with a rudder gantry and c'board to me... all of which basically exists already.

You'll just have to turn up .... it will not be slow imo.

When said shy CA technical officer stopped me excitedly and said "i now have as much sail area as you" (in my 600) he sounded like he expected to go quickly.....when i pointed out he now how similar righting moment and less heeling moment so he should sail off 920 too he suggested it suddenly wasn't as brilliant Ouch

I do not think the technical rep of the Blaze CA can possibly be regarded as 'shy' !  It the elusive 'development' boat I was describing ... I've not seen it myself on the water yet.

Besided I'm sure if you ask nicely 'they' will give you a rather special 'local' handicap as well !  (a local handicap for local people ... determined by ... er ....'local' people as well taking into account the local conditions).  920 does seem way too  harsh at BSC for a 600 ...  Get your spreadsheet together and make the case.  I'm sure they will take a look ;-)

If it was simply sail area then every spinnaker boat should beat every non spinnaker one  ... but they don't !

I believe it go as far as the club house with intent the other week but he was probably keeping his powder dry until theer was a little more space on the start line....40 odd boats on a silly short line for the commodores cup is not the place to find your limitations

The 920 is probably a little harsh, but hey i accept it so long as i get to travel and fleet race and if we could only have a few more windy days it probably wouldn't seem that bad.
