Yes good point Jim. Although I think there will be NO wind on Saturday so it would be more of a float around than sail. So I'm not sure you would get much value from the experience.

Yes to reserve list. We had 9 which was perfect. So i wasnt thinking i needed to do a reserve list. It was one of the reasons i wanted to meet the people at the show to judge the commitment levels. But a combination of double booking , illness and forgetting and weather has done for us this time.

But if anyone feels they want a test sail drop me a line through the UK 3.7 website or on here and I'll see if we can hook it up.

yep, between a rock and hard place on that one...

anyway, back OT - there's some more interest in the Farr at Draycote, this boat is definitely tickling a sweet spot for lighter folks.

what's to moan about with a Solo- it's not like it's advertising itself as 'modern' or indeed, 'quick'.  So if you moan about it, then all you are doing is moaning about your own judgement skills.

You're quite true though, I'm not sure I would like it... Pandora's Box is open.  I already know I'd rather there was an established fleet of RS300s/Blazes/RS100s/D1s/MPSs/700s/Phantoms to join up with- take you pick from any of those, preferably not the Phantom, but I would compromise for fleet racing.

James as you know I have owned two solos in recent years. I didn't want one but the fleet racing attraction was just to much to ignore! Both times I sold the boat within months! The experience was not enjoyable enough for me. And fleet racing in anything other the at the very least a winder made things very hard! Despite what the solo class may like people to believe you need an frp boat to be on the pace. My white winder was fast enough to win open events but my previous wooden miles would struggle! Which actually means you need to spend circa 4k to get near the Pace. Not so cheap all of a sudden

funnily enough it's agreeing with you that meant I didn't march straight into your footsteps on the that one.  I appreciate the dynamic of different groups of people might vary, so I'm keen to try and have a go in a race at DWSC at some point- only then can I decide if it's worth the next step, and only then, after races for a few weeks would I know if it was a good or bad move.

anyway enough of the O/T- Farr 3.7 is too interesting to get bogged by my boring sh1t!

Bet you didn't lose much on the Winder, so not so costly overall?

I've always had trouble with shin-centreboard capping interactions in solos. Sort of like trying to hurdle and limbo at the same time. But could probably sort that with a bu of time in the boat if I was so inclined.
