I can understand the need for personal hygiene and it must be frustrating to practice for years and then catch a tummy bug on the day........but no shaking hands and by extension no hugs, kisses and the like. What a load of cobblers. They're chucking the baby out with the bath water.
Ah well, each to their own on the day I suppose.

There has been research (undertaken from a sofa whilst eating pizza, I believe) that hyper fit people are more prone to catching bugs than those of us with a more "balanced" lifestyle.
