Well the Eastern Region guy is always pretty much on the ball. I can PM you his details if you like (eastern region conf Grafham 11th March)?
My experience is that until you get hold of the right person it can be a bit like bashing your head against a brick wall! |

Right I'm pretty excited- Just paid for a set of plans that should be winging their way over to GB fairly soon :D. Hopefully this will mean I can get started on the build soon.
Anybody else want to take the leap? Now lots of thinking to do like deck layout, foils (t-foil?) and most importantly... colour! I think I will be helping out on the stand with the Farr at the dinghy show so please come and say hi and take a look at the plans!

Yep, How do you know your number? Still waiting for a reply back from John E.
Daryl mentioned you might want to double up on materials etc- so if you PM your email address and we could probably sort something out.

Am tempted by this! what are the eventual plans o the class association, will boat with kites be accommodated for? are many of the builders planning on using them?
This could end up as a brilliant little semi-development class, are test sails going at the moment?

Whirlwind.
Hopefully there will be a class association set up officially as soon as we have the numbers. For now there is an unofficial CA at- Within the class rules you are allowed to fit a kite and in NZ you are not allowed to race in it (they use the kites to play with when club sailing or whatever). However, once there is a class and if people want to race with kites in the UK we might go down that route- as modifying the boats to carry a spinnaker is within the class rules and would not separate us from NZ. The areas of design that are unrestricted are the foils and masts so in that respect they could be semi-development- though no arms race has occurred in NZ as the boats are all still the same speed. We wouldn't want to separate from the NZ class rules. With regard to test sails there are two options- a.) Wait till I finish building mine or b.) Get in contact with Daryl Wilkinson (Forum name Jack Sparrow) and he might be able to sort you out a go on his. We are at the dinghy show so feel free to come and have a chat (Stand B52). Cheers PHS Farr 3.7 in progress- No 400

I guess what I meant buy semi development class is it has that sort of feel about it, with homebuilding and choice of fit out. The hull doesn't seem to need improvement anyway!T-foils are allowed I gather, seems a good hull to really benefit from these (short!)
How many builds are in progress/planned? with a commited fleet you wouldn't need to many for a lively class (much like the cherub) If I had the space I would almoat definately have a go at one |

Hi Whirlwind,
I'm trying to sort out a Test Sail day at the moment. So it is likely we will be taking names at the show. Hopefully see you there. |

Whirlwind-
Where did you hear that T-foils were allowed out of interest? If you did put one on I don't think it would be that much better- just dampen the ride slightly and possibly take away some of the bouncy-ness of a short light hull (hence the 12ft skiffs don't use them). Which is half the fun! At the moment we have 2 confirmed builds (myself included) and possibly a few more soon. It will become clear what kind of numbers we are expecting this season after the dinghy show I imagine.
