I will not give the web address, that Mark provided, but can say that I have tested it on an IPad and it works fine, if not better than some other sites. Full credit to Mark and Mags...

Looks really good Mark, please though, make sure it is compatible with the IPad. I get really fed up with sites that have been facelifted, that do not like the IPad...

January 1st is the scheduled start date. It's going to be a bit of a staged transition (some parts will still be the old layout and some the new).
We have some issues with older browsers (mainly IE6  & sometimes IE7) so the current website will remain available at a different URL (probably old.yachtsandyachting.com).It's not just a facelift - we re-wrote the code from scratch in dotnet for the new site - the current look has built up and up over the last 15 years and it has got to the point where it's obvious we've just kept adding bits and bobs to it. One thing we've had to drop on the new site is the variable width (although we'll probably keep it on the forum). With many of the in-page interactions that happen on the new site is proved impossible to keep. We're not going to change the forum (we'll just change the menu and side bar to the new style) - it's far too hard to migrate everything! Looking forward to releasing the live version and hope it all works ok! |
