Wasn't a question of if you'd been out in breeze, just that I'm looking forward to seeing it go in a decent breeze because it accelerates so smoothly.

Don't go sticking a flexible carbon rig on the blaze an shifting the weight range down or I will have to take it off my future list

Neptune

IF it ever ends up on a Blaze you might like to know it was specified to have similar stiffness to the existing alloy M7 - ie relatively stiff for a low diameter carbo stick ... partly cos the M7 works so well already, partly because we don't want to change the crew weight distribution/range  characteristics we already enjoy for exactly the reasons you imply .....    But please be aware I am officially 'neutral' at this stage on this one but Cirrus agreed to supply/test/report to the CA at the October AGM.

But this is now getting way off this thread !  .....  Should see you there.

Yes, we were down at Weymouth the other weekend. All be it with a lashed up spreader and the small set of sails set off the remaining length of pole. Both breakages happenend at the inlands whilst sailing downwind when the pole just gave way. I think the spreader had taken a hit when I was packing the boat up on my own and was probably weaker as a result. I am told that both are quick fixes. I am just looking forward to getting the boat back on the water as it is so much fun!

The wind was fine, it was the truely shocking state of the weed that spoilt it for me. Not right is it, I'm sure something is being don't, but it doesn't seem enough some how as its been 6 months now.

Weed? This was Chew today. It was very entertaining watching the rescue boat try and get to the buoy!

Had a very enjoyable 6th from 12 in today's blustery wind.

I was looking at photo's from the Steve Nicholson race and noticed that Mike was using what appear to be a set of North sails on the Icon. Look very nice!

Hi Peaky

We were very happy with the Hyde's as you know but may need to switch to North One Design for marketing / distribution reasons.   We are talking with a significant partner who plans to build the boat under license overseas and they prefer to see Norths on the boat - hence this recent development.  This is a 'must do' for us as the deal, if/as confirmed, would be very very good for Icon ... and shortly afterwards for Blaze.  In order to deal with a couple of inaccurate rumours recently heard we plan to make a joint official statement soon.

We had not tried this first North set before Northampton - Anyway the North main was instantly the equal of the already excellent Hyde one - the North jib however needs a fair bit of work and at Northampton we simply could not get the slot working properly whatever we did.   After a very 'iffy' pair of races we came in, switched to the Hyde jib to check what was happening and felt the difference instantly.   The potential is there of course but this first North jib really needs a good sort out. ... so more work in progress.
