I think I'd go down the home build mast route to keep the cost down. Either that or let's get some jigs and build wings?!

Kite has gotta be mast head or nothing... for the look more than anything else. Can't remember the last time I saw a non masthead kite monohull and didn't think it looked like it was lacking something...

So what about the Selden North UK 3.7 class?? Ben McGrane has recently been seen on a Contender doing quite well and at 74kg would be an ideal test pilot / sail developer.
