TIDE THICKNESS??? I accept that, different water DENSITIES,may make a difference, but that is really clutching at straws....If you can tell, the difference in Salinity, while sailing your boat, then you should be a multiple world champion..... (I'm guessing you're not?). Going the right way up the beat, and sailing the boat correctly is what counts..... Good Luck, and practice, practice, practice, practice et ell.... Jon |

Goodness, some people on here take things literally don't they?
Any ideas whether this new thing has a T-foil rudder? The 14s with dreadnought bows do, which must help with fore/aft stability and therefore reduce the risk of nose-diving.

It may seem that, I took it seriously, and there is some weight, in the suggestion.....
Not something I would go for,but each to his own...... Jon711 |

I guess you haven't sailed a 29er in the Solent chop then? |

Some people think it makes it 'too easy', and also less photogenic. The bow up like that = no T-foil. |

Nope havent sailed a 29er, but spent plenty of time out with them at the recent Solent event and watched half a dozen nose dive in 25 knots. (Ovi's allegedly rescued the design during development as the original design was really bad at that). Also 29er bow is not a dreadnought like the Aura pictured and I wasn't suggesting that all Skiffs stop and dive in a chop, just that this one looks like it might. Hopefully they will publish some footage. Stiil don't think its a looker though..

don't worry Jon, Tom's talking garbage as usual- have a look at the chine angle vs mast position, you'll see that Tide Thickness will make little to no difference, especially on Garda. |

Yep, but there's a really good leebow effect available under the cliffs.
