Cirrus Icon Development

It is a bit early to assess the forecast for next Saturday for the IOS race.....  don't make a decision not to do it just yet !

On a different subject I've had several emails commenting on the relative lack of Icon wake throughout  the video - its very smooth and stable.  We always intended for Icon to be very low drag but it is still very nice to see it for real.  A lot of effort went into getting this shape right but the handling remains very sweet across the wind range as well - sometimes these different ideals do not co-exist that easily.  

There were a lot of N12's around as it was their championships over the weekend at Brigthlingsea - if you look at the film of them taken around the same time many do kick up more water and pitch a lot more - I'm not being critical as they are getting on for a metre shorter than Icon - we had the luxury of a longer shape to play with.

I seem to remember that in the Tasar manual it refers to "fine grain" wake.

Time for a spinnaker?

Perhaps not with the forecast wind direction for Saturday- looks to be a lot of reaching and fetching to me and it might bubble up a bit in the Swale yet ....    and Icon does remarkably well against those who like extra sails anyway on 'their' preferred legs ....   Enjoy your asymetrics if that is your mode of choice ;-)
