Hi,

It was good to see you in Saturday Cad. You'll have to have a sail soon. Apologies for slow reply, I'm driving down from Barrow at the moment.

I had the easy job being scooped in and Tom climbed over as we capsized, so we didn't need to haul ourselves on from the water. It came up very easily (and dry) and from memory the centreboard position seemed fairly normal.

.... but I will wait until he has scratched it first

I would not worry about that, grab any offer  - but new boats can be a bit slippy at first  !   LOL

It was a bit slippy, not helped by my tiller extension being a tad long and so most tacks rolling through about 60 degrees (it couldn't possibly be my rusty technique!). I soon discovered that the plate casing doubles as a handy push off bar!

The first few mouldings out of any new tool can be a bit slippy as there is a tendancy to more liberally use release agent at first and this can make things a tad slippy for a few weeks.  If mouldings stick in tooling it is often in early use.

The case was intended to be a substrantial kick bar for the crew hence the design angle !  You obviously found it useful then.

I don't think it needs waxing, the non-slip is moulded into the floor - it just needs to lose a bit of polish with a few sails. Also, I was very heavy footed and not at all 'match fit'.
I'm so enthused right now to get fitter, get some practise in and learning how to get the most out of the Icon. Having not sailed much over the last year or two, I know I'm starting from off the pace, but it'll be really interesting to track my own progression.

I'm trying to persuade my stick waggler that we're going to do it, but last week he was claiming another cycling injury. If he's crocked, I can provide about 95kg to sink the front of your boat? Could be windy if one of those big storms veers across the Atlantic!

Hi Al,

Thanks for the offer but I'm having second thoughts about h event - maybe it's just a bit too far, a bit too soon in a bit too much forecast wind.
