Quite by chance saw you at the bridge at Acle. Looked good, if very small compared to the Punts!

Very kind - we found it pretty hard getting the rig up and down at the bridges with all that wind, so we can't have looked our best.

On the other hand I was pretty excited to be the first boat to Acle!

I think I saw you when you were coming back again - you were hoisting the main, trying to keep clear of a hireboat. But then you blasted off like a scalded cat.

Rheinwoche has been a fantastic event for the X1. We had the warmest of welcomes and a lot of interest. I'd highly recommend looking it up and consider going! You would have a lot of fun.

Normally held on a different part of the Rhein each year, 3 days sailing downstream (not likely to be able to stem the stream!), this year more normal racing was on the Mosel due to a lack of water in the Rhein. Mainly small keelboats and "piraten" dinghies plus a few interesting boats. Four races sailed (one canned due to lack of wind).  The winds varable and light except for one massive gust that inverted four "Piraten" - you can find a videos of these on youtube.

Anyway we managed to sail the fastest so were very excited to come away with the "Blue Riband"!

Last two races:

Absolutely exhausted after 7 solid days of racing 3, 4 or 5 races a day at Wroxham Week and Hickling Broad Regatta.

We took 2 X1's and had a lot of great guys take out the boats in many of the races. Some good results from us and some of our testers. Really great reception by both clubs and a lot of interest. This combined with the delights of the Norfolk Broad specialist (mostly traditional wooden) craft: White boats, Brown boats (I had a go in one race), Norfolk 14ft One designs (like a very early Int 14, gaff rigged), Norfolk Punts (carbon rig on some of these) and the cruisers (huge rigs!).

Highly recommended!

5 days "rest" (work!!!) then off to Salcombe for the Yacht Club Regatta. Both boats will be there so we can have some helms try racing one and also for the Town Regatta the week after.

You do seem to enjoy the Norfolk Broads, are you coming to Oulton Week?? The week before the August bank holiday.... All the fun of Wroxham, but unlimited Adnams at the bar!!! This year, I am letting the Blaze rest, but have borrowed a Waveney OD (Similar to a White Boat!), so will you join us?? Check out www.wobyc.co.uk for further info

It would be great to see the X1 on Oulton, may just be the perfect dinghy for the water!! (And we already have XX1 and XX2, taking part, but they are Oulton Raters!!)

Jon - Yes we do! The X1s are ideal for the Broads.

We have certainly been looking at Oulton Week and the following Barton Broad Regatta. At Wroxham's bar we heard interesting tales of the 20' XXs and many people have recommended Oulton and Barton. I am still not 100% sure how one actually gets to Barton Broad and the pontoons, but it sounds huge fun.

We have been very impressed with the Norfolk beers - Humpty Dumpty Railway Sleeper is one I can still remember!
