Has any one got experience on curing a BOT. My father has been sending E:mails to his whole address book with out knowing. Virus check was done and was clear... Do we need to talk to the service provider?
I haven't opened any of his messages up, on the desktop, only on the iPad, so would assume that it does not attack MAC/Apple computers. Not sure whether, to contact the Service Provider, or put his laptop in for a sevice?? Any advise appreciated. Jon Edited by Jon711 - 26 May 11 at 11:40pm |

Have you tried Spybot or Adaware?
Are you very sure it is his computer that is infected? A lot of such infections spoof an address from the infected computers address book so it's harder to find the infected computer. |

What anti-malware are you using? This should be picking it up.

Are you sure it is your father's PC that is infected?
I agree with Lukepiewalker, it is far more likely that the emails are spoofed to look as though they are coming from your father's PC when they are in facte coming from someone who has your father's email in their address book. However it is worth trying alternate virus checkers to be sure, as it is not unknown for infections to be missed by one checker and caught by another. Trend, Sophos and others both offer free online checks, so it would be worth trying one or two of those. Depending on your skills, the headers of the offending emails may offer clues as to the origin, but again these details are often spoofed to avoid detection. |

What sort of emails are they. If they are selling fake pills then they definitely came from that pc.
