What would you recommend for line thickness on a Laser Standar Rig? I'm using 6mm for mainsheet and 4mm for kicker etc, Should these be thinner?

NO.  No and No.  Definitely not.  You'll slice your fingers into bits!

Always did think laser sailors were masochists.   Sold mine, with a sigh of relief, to a known self harmer.

Depends on the mainsheet, some people use a thinner but grippier mainsheet.
 
I would not go below 6mm though....
 
Any thinner than 4mm for the kicker/vang and you will find the cleat will not grip it effectively, same goes for the secondary lines on the cunnighamd and outhaul.
 
I have assumed you are using the XD control control systems and not the classic control systems here.
 
I have a 7mm polilite mainsheet on my boat, works very well for me but I know of others who have a 6mm maffioli that they swear by.

I'd agree with Jeffers, I use the 7mm politie aswell but find the 6mm runs better in lighter winds. 

Jon Emmet has organised  a new rope pack for lasers- I've got elements of it on my boat and swear by it.

There isnt much info on the Jon Emmett system there, what mainsheet does he reccommend?

I have the 6mm polilite mainsheet and use it in all wind strengths.  I don't find it too hard on the hands (I don't wear gloves) but I wouldn't want to go any thinner.
 
My kicker lines are the ones that rooster sell which are 4mm.  Again I wouldn't want to go any thinner as even that line has managed to jump the block and jam the whole thing up, usually at the most inconvenient times too!

Sorry, only just seen your post

Anyway- it is 6mm for light and 7mm for heavy- if you can only buy one, go 6mm. 

Gareth Griffiths (The Notting Hill Rigging Co) organised the rigging pack and sells a complete set of lines- for the kicker, outhaul, cunningham, mainsheet, traveller for £40- it the best stuff you can get and much better than the standard stuff Laser supply you with.
