Hi All. I've been tasked with helping out a sailing pal with his Laser Vago. It's fitted with a Holt swivel jammer that's lost all the ball bearings in the swivle base!! Unhappy
Apparently he's been in touch with Holt who don't supply spares, & is against paying out for a complete new thing, has asked me if I can get hold of new ball bearings.  Anyone done anything similar / found a supplier of acetal / delrin ball bearings please?? Also, has anybody got an idea of what diameter & quantity there are just to save me hunting one down & counting & measuring the bl**dy things! Thanks in anticipation... Don.

The best option would be to get in contact with Allen Brothers - see www.allenbrothers.co.uk

All their contact details are at www.allenbrothers.co.uk/people.asp

The best option is to by a replacement swivel jammer not made by Holt. I've seen an awful lot of those bearings rolling around in the bottom of boats.

Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your swivel jammer, please can you send it back to us and we will replace or repair it.

It is not just a case of replacing the bearings as the end of the central bolt needs to be rivited over to stop the unit unscrewing.

You can find our address on the website or give me a call tomorrow on 01621774689

Id also be interested if any one knows a supplier of those plastic balls. I have a Harken mast ram that lost some of its balls a while ago...

If you google 'torlon balls' you will find supplier including Speed Sails.
Torlon is probably the best grade of plastic, delrin is another.
You could get stainless balls cheaper.

I always save the balls from any dead fittings, as the balls are not cheap.

Thanks for the useful replies. I've been in touch with Kim at Allen Bros who are very helpful. Thumbs Up We'll be taking it off the boat after sailing on Sunday & shipping it back to them for a look see.
