I love it, much more of a challenge and I think more physical. Last Sunday we had 2 races back to back but as I was one of the first to finish I had time to go ashore. I was overheating so had to take a layer off and get a drink.

I have to learn to hike after years of trapezing and I find the 100 very comfortable.

Downwind is much more tactical. I used to point the boat at the next mark and go with perhaps an allowance for the tide. Now you have a choice.

I think the 100 is a fantastic boat. The Contender is still a good boat (I have to say that as I am still trying to sell mine).

I ordered my 100 at the dinghy show and got it a couple of weeks later. May still be the case but only one way to find out, get that order in!

Thanks for the feedback guys (helm weights) I'm working on converting my mate from an old an uncompetetive 400. Is there a still wait list for 100's , and is anyone thinking of selling?

Then again even in the Alto, you can beat them by ten minutes and they still have you... Frikken Laser is a total Bandit on the Sea..

Of course the way to prove it is to borrow one and show everyone.  From my experience of racing on the sea, a laser is anything but a bandit.

Rigs within a series.

Yes so far they have, not they they even know what I'm using, both sails look identical and since I only ever do well with the big sail, using the small one isn't an issue for them and now the handicap has changed. It's annoying as I had in mind doing exactly what y'all have and persevering with the 8.4, it's just my local duck pond mentality, some folk I don't mind being beaten by, but others... when they're out there oblivious, trailing feathers and still going faster it kind of grates..

They must be good Lasers ! - I'm not sure that a Laser is a bandit in any conditions really ? (hammerd by trapeze boats in a breeze and hammered by numerous others (Phantoms, 12s, Ents, Larks, Merlins etc) when its light.

In the many years I sailed them it was very rare to have conditions where even very well sailed Lases could do well in a handicap fleet.

What you need to do is try and drum up more asymetrics and get 2 starts so you race with similar boats. That will get you away from those pesky lasers......

The rule with the 100's are that if you enter the Gul GP series then you must stay with the same rig. IF you change you count as 2 different entries, so that it doesn't become an arms race and as they have different prizes, so you cannot be a bandit and use the rigs to your advantage, etc
