Well it sounds a big expensive deal, 1 rig, two rigs and you lot do have the benefit of hindsight, given I was one of the 1st jockeys on this boat, but I'd still make the same decision, it's only a 2nd sail after all, and a bit of tube.
Coming as I did from a Blaze which also claims a 10.2, I thought I'd cope with it in more wind.

Grahame, I got my boat before you and made the 1 rig decision back then purely on my weight.
As you sound a similar weight to me I'm amazed you bought the big sail with the boat. I see no point in it For someone under 70kgs. Anyway I hope you stick with it and learn to appreciate the boat as an 8.4 rig. Cheers, Keith |

Out of interest does your club let you rig change within a series?
I know it's now the same py but I think there may still be an issue with changing Rigs within a series. |

In the 600 the class rules allow for one change of wing size durign a year - is there such a rig rule in the 100's?

The rule with the 100's are that if you enter the Gul GP series then you must stay with the same rig. IF you change you count as 2 different entries, so that it doesn't become an arms race and as they have different prizes, so you cannot be a bandit and use the rigs to your advantage, etc

Yes so far they have, not they they even know what I'm using, both sails look identical and since I only ever do well with the big sail, using the small one isn't an issue for them and now the handicap has changed. It's annoying as I had in mind doing exactly what y'all have and persevering with the 8.4, it's just my local duck pond mentality, some folk I don't mind being beaten by, but others... when they're out there oblivious, trailing feathers and still going faster it kind of grates.. Then again even in the Alto, you can beat them by ten minutes and they still have you... Frikken Laser is a total Bandit on the Sea..

What you need to do is try and drum up more asymetrics and get 2 starts so you race with similar boats. That will get you away from those pesky lasers......

They must be good Lasers ! - I'm not sure that a Laser is a bandit in any conditions really ? (hammerd by trapeze boats in a breeze and hammered by numerous others (Phantoms, 12s, Ents, Larks, Merlins etc) when its light.
In the many years I sailed them it was very rare to have conditions where even very well sailed Lases could do well in a handicap fleet.

Of course the way to prove it is to borrow one and show everyone. From my experience of racing on the sea, a laser is anything but a bandit.
