I have just purchased my first F18 (Dart Hawk) after 18 years of Dart18s.
Having a little trouble with rigging spinnaker pole (with shute). As well as the self tacking jib. Also how much rig tension.
Does any body know where i can find this info?

Welcome,
I don't know if a Hawk is any different from any other F18.
Our Tiger has spreaders set to 50mm (lay boat on it's side, place a batten across the diamond wires where they meet the spreader and measure from the back of the mast to the batten).
Rig tension depends on wind strength (more wind = more tension) certainly a lot more than you had on the dart 18.
Have a look here for more info http://www.f18.org.uk/index.asp

Ken, you could try Brian Phipps at Windsport as he certainly used a Hawk in his eponymous book on cat sailing. Good luck.

Ken

Where abouts are you based?  There may be some friendly local F18 sailors around who could help you.  Hands on advice is usually best for a first rigging.

Thank you to all of you for the advice, there are a few Hawks at Worthing so I will pop over and have a chat with them.
Have a great summer. Wink
