Dear Alistair,
We can confirm that we are permitted to sell tickets for the Sailing events for spectators attending the venue at the Nothe. Should LOCOG be unsuccessful in obtaining planning permission, successful applicants for sailing tickets will of course receive a full refund for the tickets they applied and paid for and your rights as a consumer will not be affected.
The tickets for this Venue will be sold subject to LOCOG obtaining this planning permission. With regards to private spectator boats, all boats with reserved anchorages/berths in Weymouth Harbour will be permitted to access Weymouth Harbour at all times during the competition through a designated, stewarded access channel.
No private spectator boats will be permitted within the race areas themselves to allow for fair racing and to protect the security of the athletes/event. Boats will be permitted in any open water areas outside of these race areas and Weymouth harbour. Details of the proposed plans for the water can be found at http://www.portland-port.co.uk/about_the_port/statutory_harbour_authority/regulation/HRO.htm.

I've found out through other sources that the location is the Nothe Gardens at Weymout. I've even found out the capacity. It's also not actually got planning permission yet- which is by no means certain.
Surely it is is barely legal to be selling tickets when the plans are not finalised and planning permission is still to be granted? What on earth will happen if the local opposition wins out and the ticketed area is rejected?
Once more, the actual answer was buried deep in a pile of auto-generated responses.
Do those answering the questions actually have access to anything beyond the FAQ?
Also, will private spectator boats be allowed anywhere near (though clear of interfering) the race areas, or will only official boats carrying "prestige ticket" holders be allowed close? |

Thank you for your email.
As previously advised, seating plans will not be available. Your application is for tickets in a particular price category rather than for specific seats. If your application is successful, your seating details will be printed on your tickets when they are sent to you in summer 2012.
All tickets are for reserved seating in a venue unless general admission is stated. Reserved seating means that each individual ticket is assigned a specific seat in the venue and only the ticket holder may occupy the seat. General admission means that you can chose your seat on arrival at the venue, in the price category you have purchased, on a first-come, first-served basis, or it allows you entry into a venue in which standing is permitted.

When you apply for tickets, please indicate, for each session, if you have an additional accessibility requirement which would enhance your spectator experience or that of members of your party. All members of a party will be located together so you do not need to advise how many people have additional accessibility requirements. We will do everything we can to give you a great spectator experience, including enabling you to choose a location within the venue that best meets your needs. The options are:
-Seats with a direct view of a video screen for people who are deaf or hearing impaired (HI)
-Seats close to the action for visually impaired people (VI)
-Seats for people who need to be on the end of a row (EA)
-Seats for people who cannot manage many steps at the back or the front of a stand (EAS)
If you are applying by a paper form, in section 2, please indicate, for each session, your additional accessibility requirement. All members of a party will be seated together.
Question: Ticketing of the Marathon and Race Walk events
Answer: During the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games there will be a number of free to view events, including the Marathon, Road Cycling (Road Race and Time Trial), Race Walk and the cycling element of the Triathlon.
The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) is proposing to ticket small sections of the routes for grandstand seating or standing, such as the start and finish line. This is why indicative ticket prices for these events were included as part of the Olympic Games ticket price announcement.
The majority of the routes will remain un-ticketed and free to view. We hope that Londoners, and visitors from across the UK, will line the routes to support the athletes and create a fantastic atmosphere for the events.
I hope this assures you that you can still take up this unique opportunity to attend an event during the London 2012 Games for free.

Question: Can I buy and use tickets as competition prizes or in an auction?
Answer: Unfortunately we are unable to offer tickets for use in auctions or competitions. After the application period for Olympic Games tickets opens on 15 March 2011, the terms and conditions of sale and other laws will mean that they cannot be used for this purpose.
