You may not understand it or agree with it but this is the problem, expecting people to understand its one boat with two PY's!!! You are unique for this very reason. It works with the Laser as its actually almost 3 different classes, which IMO you will need to be if you want two PY's. Why should it be different for 100's?? As for the Bandit Laser sailor, that is cheating in its purist form and if found out he/she should be banned from racing. This topic is about PY's and not cheating so i am not sure we should go down that avenue.

ok Ruscoe I stand corrected for the 2 guys you mention but in general most of the guys I see sailing 300's are on the larger size. I hope your right on your 100 prediction.
Cheers,
Keith.
PS-I'm boring myself now on this topic so enough said from me now. Our club racing season starts in 2 weeksso I cant wait to get sailing again as its been a long cold winter!!!!!!

Keith there is more then 2 guys, Matt Biggs has just joined the fleet and he is not big, Tom Moore, Luke Pepper to name another few that seem to be getting on OK with a B-rig and certainly not off the pace.

Chaps The ideal of course IS class racing; then the PYS issue
simply goes away. But whingeing about the yardstick can just put off potential
recruits to the class. So I shall seek to do as much of the circuit as I can.
And perhaps we should all agree an informal circuit too, be it Chi Fed Week,
Poole, Cowes Dinghy week or whatever. Also, most clubs allow a signed-in day
sail, so I how about an informal congregation at various places too? And no, I am not connected to RS just love the boat |

OK my very last post on this.
Mr Fab100 - I too think its an ace boat and have loved it since getting it last Easter. And I am perfectly happy with the PY given to us if derived from a good sample of data.
My only interest in this discussion is I live up Norf where I dont have the luxury of attending much class racing and all my sailing is handicap racing. I would like whatever the PY is to be a fair one and I was just intrigued that one PY was given for the 2 different configurations. Wont it be great if it turns out both rigs are similar with different helms weights.
Ultimately we need more 100's north of the border so we can have some class racing.
Cheers,
Keith.

Well my take on it, initially having sailed both rigs and getting trashed off the line by a Supernova I junked the 8.4 and tried to make a go of it with the 10.2. Then i went to the nationals and realised I must be doing it wrong and reverted to the 8.4, I did make some improvement toward the end of the season, but never quite beat my old Blaze round a course which I had been doing with the big rig.
So now, I've rigged the big mast again and I shall just do something else if it's breezy and just sail it in light winds until I get the V-Twin, but seriously I'm quite peeved off with the RYA for acting so quickly with this boat when they dragged their heels for years with all the other crap that doesn't have the commercial envy associated with it that RS do. You can't help wondering if the powers that be have a negative take on RS, why are none of their boats on any of the Olympic squad development fleets for example. Personally I think this silly Industry should organise itself, stop letting the tail wag the dog, set up an alternative system. The RYA is not incorruptible, this much I know to be true from my dealings in the windsurfing business, it's a loose collection of well intentioned folk amongst others who are often on their own loose commercial agenda. (This is an opinion, mine, not fact, not intending to libel anyone in particular)But they never cease to piss me off with their inept meddling in areas that dont need it and their lack of action where clearly it's needed.

To change the subject a little has anyone tried or seen the smaller rig yet?
I'm thinking it may be a way for the mrs to sail the boat a bit more as she would probably struggle With the 8.4 being a good by bit lighter again. I thought it may also be a good heavy weather sail for me? There doesn't seem to be any chat about it yet? Cheers, Keith Ps- James I'm not grumbling- honest! |

What’s everyone done with the cunno? I changed it to how the web site bimble suggested but i don't think it's going to work.... the block is going to hit the deck before you've got enough on. I think i'm going to change it to a simple 4:1 (i think) with a extra block and anchoring it like the kicker on the Frankenstein bolt |
